Dentaid, The Dental Charity, has issued a call for volunteer dentists and dental nurses to help deliver essential oral healthcare to looked-after children in Birmingham. In partnership with Barnardo’s, Dentaid will operate its mobile charity dental units throughout spring and summer 2026, bringing accessible dental support directly to local community settings.
Improving Access to Dental Care for Vulnerable Children
Many children in care face barriers to routine dental appointments, resulting in unmet treatment needs and long delays. By deploying mobile dental units, Dentaid enables trained dental professionals to provide care within familiar community environments, offering a safe and supportive setting for young people who may otherwise struggle to access treatment.

Addressing Local Demand for Dental Support in Birmingham
Demand for dental care across Birmingham continues to rise, particularly for children who may not have regular access to dental services. Initiatives such as this play an important role in helping local families overcome barriers to routine treatment.
Community-focused projects also highlight the dedication of dental professionals who wish to contribute beyond their day-to-day roles.
